(PAS) Create a Drop-In Learning Center When You Start a Preschool – with Vivian Lopez

If you want to create a drop-in learning center, listen to today’s Preschool All Stars story: Vivian Lopez left her 25-year career in the district after realizing she didn’t like how the school district had changed over the years. Determined to start her own preschool, she found a building and opened her own drop-in learning center for children ages 2-10.  Listen in to discover how you can create a drop-in learning center, too!

Vivian Lopez had taught with the district for 25 years, but even though she loved the kids, teaching wasn’t what it used to be. She found Joy in 2018 and after some initial trepidation, she decided to take the leap, get Preschool In A Box, and join Preschool All Stars.

She leased a building, but then ran into difficulties with licensing it as a preschool, so she decided to switch gears and call it a “learning center.” She now owns a drop-in learning center that caters to kids ages 2-10. Her staff hosts story times, clubs, after-school care, CPR and health classes for parents, and is looking to partner with the Dept. of Child Services to be a meeting place for family visitations.

Joy and Preschool All Stars gave Vivian the push she needed to get started on this journey. When she ran into issues, they were right there with advice and guidance for her next steps. They are now helping her get set up with an online preschool class so she can reach more kids outside of her community.

Vivian has big plans to expand her business in the next 3 years to include 2 or 3 new preschool locations. She wants to run this first location as a place where people in the community can come for all sorts of things from family classes, story times, date night care, grocery giveaways and more.
