Create a Work/Life Balance as a Preschool Owner – Follow up with Kristen Lucas Smith

If you want to learn how to be present in your personal life while also running a business, listen to today’s Preschool All Stars story: Kristen Lucas Smith was in the trenches last time we spoke. She was right in the middle of setting up her online bilingual preschool and was just hoping to get through her first year. Now she is honing in on her ideal clientele and figuring out how to balance her home life and business life. Listen in to discover how you can learn to be present, too!

Kristen Lucas Smith had spent so much time preparing a great online program, marketing to find students, and creating a business she was proud of. After making it through her first year she started to get burnt out and realized she wasn’t being present in her personal life. She waited 12 years for her miracle baby to arrive, and she started this business so she could spend time with him. But now her business was taking up more and more of her time and she was struggling with the work/life balance.

After doing some self reflection, Kristen realized that she needed to cut back on her class schedule. The extra money was not as important as her time with her son. She decided to cut her class load in half and it has done wonders for her personal and family life.

With the help of Joy and the Preschool All Stars, Kristen realized that everyone’s journey is different. She stopped comparing her path to anyone elses and made her business work for her.

It took a lot of self reflection to realize that she had focused so much on creating this wonderful program, that now she needed to take a step back from it to really get back to her reason for doing it in the first place. Kristen has plans to hire a teacher so she can go back to offering more classes, while still having time with her son. She said that she is constantly evolving, as is her business, and she will continue to do what she needs to do to be present for her family.
