When the last one left for college, she started teaching ESL online to kids in China. Her 4am class times were not ideal, and when the company cut their teacher’s pay by 40%, Christy decided she needed to find another way to utilize her talents. Christy has always been passionate about teaching. She spent 18 years homeschooling her kids and wanted to continue teaching in some capacity when her last child left for college. But after being stiffed from her online ESL job, she just didn’t know how she could make another online teaching job work. Then she found Joy’s book and everything changed.
After spending a relaxing vacation reading all about how to start her own preschool in Joy’s book, Christy decided she needed to jump on board. Within a few days of putting her founding family script out there, she had homeschool moms in her inbox asking if she was offering homeschool enrichment classes. She decided, why not? This jump started her online business and a few months later she had a preschool class and a class of elementary aged homeschoolers!
With the help of Joy and the Preschool All Stars, Christy is getting all of the help she needs on the tech side of things. Her online presence is professional, and she is able to offer things like spanish classes through her HUB membership! Christy is working on getting more enrollment for her online class, amd trying to figure out what her next step will be. She has people inquiring about a Kindergarten program, and knows that with her homeschooling background, she has endless options for classes she can teach. She loves that she gets to sleep in now and work when she wants to.
