From High School to Preschool – with Amelia Ruffin

If you want to build a big micro school, listen to today’s Preschool All Stars story: Amelia Ruffin has taught highschool and elementary school in her school district. But she always had a heart for the little ones. After getting her Masters degree in Early Childhood Education, she really wanted to utilize her new degree, but she couldn’t find a preschool spot in the district so she decided to start her own preschool! Listen in to discover how you can go from teaching High School to preschool, too!

Amelia has taught everything from highschool to elementary school. But she wanted more time with her family, and she wanted to utilize her Master’s degree in ECE. She didn’t want to fall into the daycare trap of long hours for low wages, so she wasn’t sure of her next step.

After finding Joy’s book, a preschool sounded like the perfect solution to her problem. She decided to start a local AND online preschool, so she could have a greater reach with her program. She converted her garage into her preschool room so she could separate her work space and living space, and her local program filled quickly.

She loves the positivity she receives from Joy and The Preschool All Stars. When she is feeling down, she jumps on and quickly has her spirits lifted. Joy’s live videos have been so helpful and uplifting for her, and she has gotten so many ideas from the ladies in the group.

Leaving her secure teaching job to start a preschool was one of the scariest things Amelia has ever done. But she says it was the best decision she ever made. She has made the life for herself that she always wanted! She loves that she sets her own schedule and that she didn’t feel like she was going in blind, because she had so much information from the Preschool All Stars and Preschool in A Box.
