Get off the Corporate Ladder and Start a Preschool – with Kate Lucius

If you want to get off the corporate ladder, listen to today’s Preschool All Stars story: Kate Lucius was 16 years into a successful career in finance at a Fortune 500 company. But she felt like she was trying to fit a square peg in a round hole in the corporate world. She had a heart to serve her community and stay home with her kids. Listen in to discover how you can get off the corporate ladder and start a preschool, too!

Kate Lucius always wanted to be a teacher, but her parents, who were teachers, convinced her out of it. She went to school for business and climbed that corporate ladder into a very successful career. But she wasn’t fulfilled and she wasn’t spending the time with her kids that she wanted to. She knew something needed to change, and then she found Joy.

After reading Joy’s book, she decided that a preschool was the route she needed to take. She went through one of Joy’s challenges and set up a local preschool in her home!

Kate loves that she can come to Joy and the Preschool All Stars with any questions she has. Seeing stories, struggles, and accomplishments from all of the members gives her the comfort that she is not alone in this journey.

Kate has only been open a few weeks, but she is already planning a big move to a center. She has a heart to serve her community, and this is the way for her to do it. Her old job gave her an offer she couldn’t refuse, so she is still there part time, but she hopes to cut ties completely by next year. She loves staying home with her kids, and being their teacher. She finally feels like she is giving back to her community in a meaningful way!
