Give Your Preschool Center a Homey Vibe – with Marcie Cholewinski

If you want to create a center that has the vibe of a home preschool, listen to today’s Preschool All Stars story: Marcie Cholewinski has been a public school preschool teacher for 18 years. She always loved her job, but this past year she really saw things starting to change for the worse. She returned to school thinking she could make it work, but 2 weeks into the school year, she knew she couldn’t continue teaching in a system where she wasn’t able to give her students what she knew they needed. A few weeks later, she found her answer, and it was beyond what she ever imagined possible! She is now in the process of opening her own preschool center and is already halfway full before she has even finished her building! Listen in to discover how you can create a homey vibe in your large center, too!

Marcie wasn’t burnt out from teaching, but she was so tired of leaving work every day, after giving everything she had in her, just to feel like a failure. Her students need so much more than what she is able to offer in that environment. After finding Joy’s book, she decided to take things into her own hands and create her own program. The plan was to start an in-home preschool, but a large building fell into her lap and she jumped on the opportunity!

After going through one of Joy’s challenges, Marcie was able to fly through the business aspect of things. Getting her LLC and business license was a breeze after reading the step by step process. So she was able to focus on the important things, like creating the homey, inviting atmosphere she knew these kids needed!

With the help of Joy and the Preschool All Stars, Marcie was able to stop second guessing herself, and start putting her ideas into action. The encouragement and camaraderie she has experienced in the group has been invaluable. She has learned to fight for her own happiness, and for the happiness of her future students.

Marcie went from feeling hopeless in her job, to being invigorated by the idea that she was now going to provide so many children with the early childhood education she knew they deserved. Her building will be licensed for 48 kids, and she already has a waitlist and teachers contacting her eager to teach for her program. She loves what she does, and is excited to finally be able to create a program she is proud of!
