If you’re struggling to find your purpose in life, you’ll gain strength hearing today’s Preschool All Stars story: Becki Reed was a dyslexic mom of 5 (who never considered herself a “Teacher”) and decided to team up with another mom to create a thriving preschool!
Becki Reed was a mom of 5 who is a self-proclaimed “Feed em, Dress em, and send them out the door” type mom. She never considered herself the “Teacher type” or the “Crafty mom.” She found Joy by chance, way before the concept of Preschool All Stars was even a thing. She didn’t know why, but she was drawn to the idea of starting a preschool.
If You Feel Called to It, Then There’s a Reason You’re Doing It
Where there’s a will, there’s a way. Becki knew in her heart that she should start a preschool, but at the time, she wasn’t confident in her teaching ability. After finding Joy from another mom on a couponing blog and teaming up with another mom, she got the support she needed to get started. She and her partner created a preschool together. Becki ran the business side of things, while the other mom took on more of the teacher role.
How Preschool All Stars Helped Becki on This Journey
After 3 years, they grew large enough to start renting a space from a church. This gave them the opportunity to expand their program. They were able to hire another teacher, and build their own curriculum. Becki was able to work during school hours while her kids were at school, and be a mom after school hours.
Becki and her partner were the first people in Joy’s “Inner Circle,” which taught them to value what they offer, and got them on track with fundraising and their financials.
The Next Steps for Becki
When Covid hit, Becki and her partner decided to close and go their separate ways. But with the confidence she has gained from not only teaching, but running her own preschool, Becki has plans to start a program for kids struggling with dyslexia. After finally getting a diagnosis for dyslexia as an adult, she feels this is her new calling.
Becki is currently preparing to launch her dyslexia tutoring which will bring immense value to kids who want to overcome dyslexia and thrive academically. We’re excited to see what she does next!
