Set Up Your Preschool to Run Without You – Follow Up with Bethany Johnson

If you want to set up your preschool to run without you, listen to today’s Preschool All Stars story: Bethany Johnson had set up her preschool exactly the way she wanted it to. Her classes were full and she was proud of what she had built. Her whole reason for starting a preschool was so she could stay home with her future kids, and the birth of her first child was fast approaching. She needed to hire a teacher to take over her classroom, but the thought of putting her pride and joy in someone else’s hands was scary for her. Listen in to discover how you can set up your preschool to run without you, too!

Bethany Johnson was searching for the perfect teacher to take over her classroom after she had her baby. Teaching was a familiar safe space for her, being a boss was uncharted territory. She wanted to create an environment where her teacher felt safe, trusted, and supported. But finding the right employee came with its own challenges.

After listening to Joy’s Preschool University Hiring videos, Bethany was able to hire a teacher. But she quickly learned it might not be the best fit and that cultivating an atmosphere of respect, trust and support was a two way street.

With the help of Joy and the Preschool All Stars, Bethany was able to fix her hiring dilema. Joy gave her one on one advice and support to make some tough decisions a little easier, and gave her the confidence to trust her gut when it came to hiring her the perfect candidate.

Bethany now has an amazing teacher in the classroom and feels confident that she can be out of the room, taking care of her baby, while her classroom runs smoothly. She is constantly learning how to be a better boss, mom, teacher, and business owner. Her next step is to expand her preschool out of her garage and into a whole school house, and she will continue with Joy’s Preschool University when that time comes. But for now, Bethany is enjoying everything she has built and spending some much needed time with her little one, while making a great income and being the job creator she was excited to become!
